Orléans

the ordained of Orléans shuffle through cloister chambers of stone remembrance

their dusty gowns and ghosts frayed at the hems of eternity

the bell has tolled and cracked the cellar stairs, there's barley-corn and a dim flame

in eyes of tomorrow’s kingdoms

symbols, sashes and blood-red satin

ribbons running to madness

in the choir

cellos and angels strain to crescendo

there is none to reason away

you from

the open window

fly-or-fall

remember and regret

a redemption of the heart

in the long slow breath of the you that you showed me

later (much too late) time will repeal what was denied

it is by this heart that the lilies flourish
