Chicago Breakdown

I don’t have the heart for this city

too much time -in too deep

now that you’ve cut and gone

it can’t keep me

along the lake shore

the King of Ears

roams the Eight Poles

his glittering sword lights up the sky

heavens turn to sapphire and gold

whipping up the sun

with the sound of glass

ashes of tomorrow

blown back in the past

silvered strings

twang and sing

across the lake

spirits of thunder

flush with wine

argue with the sky

keepers of the palace

sound the first watch

in the ornate tower

ebony phoenix calling

faltering and sweet

from the crimson ocean

a faint cool scent

yellow blossoms reel

a song for every flower

a lover for each hour

Ive lost the heart for this city

now that you've gone
